The Lushan Mountain is situated in the north of middle subtropical zone. The subtropical monsoon climate dominates the ecological features of Lushan Mountain. From the mountain foot to the top, it could be divided into the subtropical, warm temperate and temperate zones. Due to the elevation of the Lushan Mountain below 1,500m, the relative height 1,400m, the ecology is quite simple here, it could be subdivided into the following zones from lower to higher:

Subtropical evergreen broadleaf forest.

Warm temperate evergreen and deciduous broadleaf mixed forest.

Temperate deciduous broadleaf and coniferous mixed forest and shrub forest.

The human activities were somewhat harmful to the ecological environment due to the earlier development of Lushan Mountain. But the environment is kept in a good condition in general. The subtropical evergreen broadleaf forest at the foot of the mountain could indicate the local ecological features. However, the mountain deciduous broadleaf and coniferous mixed forest is well grown at the elevation of 1,300m.

The Lushan Mountain is one of the key scenic spots in China, the vegetation has been well protected for over half a century. Some rare and precious plants are well preserved. Besides, the sewage discharge is strictly controlled in the Lushan Mountain, so the water resources remain pollution-free. This also provides a good resting and reproducing area for a variety of animals.

The excellent environment in Lushan Mountain supplies a firm ground for a high biodiversity.

Under a well-protected condition, the Lushan Mountain is full of flourishing trees, the climate is humid, clear and cool. The groundwater is plentiful, offering sufficient water sources for waterfalls and streams. In the geopark, you can see bees and butterflies dancing everywhere and hear the birds' singing in deep valleys. The Mount Lushan Geopark is really an excellent resort for tourism and relaxation.
