The 2024 Jiujiang Senior Citizen Qigong Competition held at Lushan UNESCO Global Geopark

       On June 17, 2024, the 2024 Jiujiang Senior Citizen Qigong Competition was held at Lushan UNESCO Global Geopark. More than 230 participants of 17 teams from various counties and districts of Jiujiang City competed in four categories, including Yijinjing, Wuqinxi, Liuzijue, and Baduanjin. A panel assessed their performance from movements, breathing, mental focus, and aesthetic feature and decided on eight awards on individual and team basis.

        Qigong, a gem of Chinese Martial Arts and Intangible Cultural Heritage with a history of 5,000 years, is a key promotion project for general public fitness in China. It serves as a primary means for improving health and fitness for many Chinese people, especially middle-aged and senior citizen.
