Luoxingshi Island (Falling Star Island) is located in Poyang Lake which is to the south of Lushan Municipality. In Notes on Book of Waterways, written by Li Daoyuan of the Northern Wei Dynasty (368-534AD)， It recorded that: “Luoxingshi Island is more than a hundred paces in perimeter (about 100 meters) and 5 Zhang high (16.67 meters), bamboo and woods were growing on the island.” The legendary said that a star fell into the lake and turned into an island. There comes the name Xingzi (son of the star, today Lushan Municipality) Luoxishi Island is one of the important symbols of Lushan Municipality. Luoxin Temple was built on the island. It was connected to the main land in the old time. Due to the washing and weathering, it turned into its current shape. The island’s cause of formation is related to magmatism deep underground.
