A cirque is a bowl shaped semicircle depression caused by glacial erosion. The back of the cirque is high and the sides are lower resembling an armchair. It is always surrounded on three sides by mountains. There is usually a ridge at the exit of the cirque. Normally, it happens near the snow line. Today evidence of the ridge can still be seen at the left side in front of the cirque exit.
