The moraine clay boulder profile at Matou belongs to Dagu glaciation of 1.10 to 0.9 million years ago. There is a residual laterite under the clay-boulder which is the result of Poyang Dagu inter-galciations.The quaternary glaciation of Lushan Mountain area is divided into four glacial epochs.(i.e. Dapailing, Poyang, Dagu, and Lushan glacial epoch and related interglacial epochs.
